Most events start with good intentions. At some point, some fine people decided that the Boise Centre at the Grove needed a holiday tradition. An event where families could gather year after year to create some fond memories, a place where single people could go on a first date or maybe a place where married people could go on their monthly date. I believe it's fair to say that the Boise Centre at The Grove came up with some pretty cool concepts. We have water features in summer, Alive at Five, The farmers market and in the winter the grove's giant Christmas tree. Along with that tree comes the annual tree lighting ceremony which this year was supposed to take place the day after Thanksgiving... until the tree fell over!!! How does that happen? According to ktvb.com it is unknown how or why the tree tipped over. What we do know, is that the lighting ceremony was cancelled till they could find a new tree. The good news is that if you we're worried about missing out on your tradition you need not worry because we now have a new date and time.

The Downtown Boise Holiday Tree lighting is now scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. The ceremony will happen at Grove Plaza and KTVB will have live coverage of the lighting during the News at 6 on Friday.
