Big changes are coming to the Treasure Valley when it comes to shopping for home decor and it could be a sign of what is to come for retail in general.

Just announced on a national scale this past week, Pier 1, a popular home decor destination here in the Treasure Valley and nationwide, will be closing their doors...all 540 of them.

Pier 1 filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, even before COVID-19 hit the nation, and that virus certainly didn't help the company find any interested buyers. With rivals online like Wayfair and more, it makes sense that many may be losing interest in brick and mortar home decor shopping.

I always enjoyed the look and quality of products from Pier 1 and I liked the way that the store smelled more than anything. I guess we'll have to find an alternative now? The nationwide chain had two locations in the area-- one near the mall and another in Eagle.
