It is officially that time of year--fire season. It seems when temperatures start to rise, so too do the calls to our local fire departments and our forest fire fighters. Some can't be prevented--others, are totally avoidable. Sprinkle in some fireworks and you've got yourself quite the dangerous fire hazard.

The internet was quick to capture some terrifying images of a fire in Caldwell--many believed a beloved local business was on fire!

Flames that were several feet tall were blazing next to the Terrace Drive-In Theatre and hearts were shattering at even the thought of this place burning down.

Since the photos (and the news) surfaced, we have learned that the fire did indeed miss the theatre and was burning in a field right next to the facility.

Take a look at the fire and what folks were saying online, below:

After what was surely a long weekend for first responders across the Treasure Valley, the Caldwell Police Department released a statement on just how busy they were--including that fire near the Terrace Drive-In:

Between July 4 at 8:00 a.m. and July 7 at midnight we received 571 calls. We responded to everything from crashes to fireworks, drug arrests, DUIs, and more. We made 21 arrests in that period.
We also assisted the Caldwell Fire Department with traffic control after a fire on Main Street and a fire near the Terrace Drive-In.
Despite all of these calls we responded to there were no major incidents in the City.
A total of 571 calls!? Holy smokes-- thank you, Caldwell Police Department, for keeping everyone safe over the long weekend!
