Since Komen's Race for the Cure began, almost $2 billion in funding has been raised nationally to assist in breast cancer screening, education, treatment and psychosocial support programs. In short, the money you raise saves lives.

The 2018 Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018. You might be thinking you have plenty of time but we're actually running out of time. Komen's goal this year is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50%. That's going to take some tremendous fundraising to pull off such a large feat.

I was in the meeting discussing this with our teams and why shouldn't we shoot to help save as many lives as possible? One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That's at least one or two women in your office right now. The statistics are scary and it's what we don't want to face or talk about. The problem is you can't escape it. There is no pathway out. The only thing we can do is create awareness and assist those who can help themselves. THIS is why Race for the Cure is so important to our community.

$20 for 20

Here we go! Starting right now through February 20 Komen is discounting registration for the race to $20. That's $20 for the first 20 days. We're asking that you don't stop at $20 but donate another $5, $10, or however much you can afford. The Race for the Cure is a fundraiser and discounting the funds is an incentive to get more people involved. Donate baby!

Team Sista, Kekeluv

I'll be your team captain for our 103.5 Kissfm team, Kiss Our Tatas. I will be teaming up with the entire Kiss squad to put together the largest team in history. It's my personal goal to break the record for the largest group of Idahoans on a team ever.

I was taking pictures by our tent last year and saw a very familiar face that was running. She is one of the most kind-hearted people I have ever met in my life. She has been to every single event that we've done for child abuse prevention and never missed an opportunity to help people in the community. I found out from her daughter that she had a scare with cancer had luckily it had been removed. For all these years she ran to raise to help other women with breast cancer and now she'd become the victim. This mom was now running for herself as a survivor.

Please join me and our entire Kiss Our Tatas to form the largest alliance of hope ever this year. I'm asking you to not just sign up but grab as many people as you know. Let's do something we never did before. This might be the one race you seem to always miss. Let's mark this on the calendar and be our own team captains of hope. Join our team. This is such an uplifting experience and I'd love for us to do it together. Let's go! $20 for the next 20 days. Ready walk with us?
