Any ideas on who this 'Griffey' kid might be related to?
If your guess was the legendary baseball player, you're certainly right. Ken Griffey Jr does indeed have a football-playing son that will be on Boise State's roster!
There have already been sightings of Ken Griffey Jr here in the Treasure Valley over the last few weeks as Tevin was visiting campus--we can only expect to see more of him as the season gets going!
In a statement released by the football program, highlighting his ties to athletics, the following was shared:
Athleticism runs in the family as his older brother, Trey, played football at Arizona. His father played a different sport, spending 22 years in Major League Baseball with the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox. His grandfather, Ken Sr., also is a 22-year MLB veteran that played for the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners.
