Sorry Boise, Boat Season Is Getting Cut Short at Lucky Peak
Here in the Treasure Valley, we're blessed to be surrounded by great outdoor activities. Hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and all of the the seasons in between--or all of the seasons that we tend to get in one day.
Boating is a popular summer activity and some new information from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has boaters a little sad today--as we're learning that boating season will be cut about 6-weeks short this year!
The cause for early 'lake draining' is to enable crews to make some necessary repairs.
Here's what to expect as these processes are put into place:
- On July 22nd, the Lucky Peak Lake 'drawdown' begins
- On August 1st, Boats that are in shallow slips are recommended to be pulled from the marina and the lake will be down 15 feet.
- On August 3rd, the marina will be at a minimal level, all boats, by this date, should be pulled from the lake as it will be down 20 feet.
- August 5th, Fuel Dock at lucky peak closes and the lake will be down a total of 26 feet
- On August 8th, the East Boat Ramp closes and the lake will be down 36 feet
- On August 29th, the West Boat Ramp will close and the lake will be down a total of 11o feet!
All of these dates are important for anyone that is hoping to make it out to Lucky Peak for some boating or for anyone that is regularly using the lake for summer activities.
Get out, enjoy this heat and the luxury of our very own local lake before it's too late!
