If there's one thing we know about the Treasure Valley, it's that it loves making "Top" lists.  Well, one of our favorite events just landed on a National Top 100 List!

Believe it or not, there's a group of people out there who've made their lifetime goal to complete 100 Half Marathons in the course of their lifetime.  (I consider myself a fairly regular runner and I've only done 9...) They're appropriately named the "100 Half Marathons Club." One of the membership benefits of being in the group is getting to vote in the yearly "best of" competition where the 100 Best Half Marathon Experiences in the country are decided.  Members pick the races based of their theme, price, overall value, medal design, race t-shirt, swag bag haul, course volunteers and more.

This year a race that's near and dear to our heart made the "Top 100" list. "100 Half Marathons" club members added St. Luke's FitOne Half Marathon to the list for the first time ever!

The half marathon is part of FitOne's race weekend that also includes at 5K and 10K. Money raised through registration and participant fundraising benefits the St. Luke's Children's Hospital, a cause very near and dear to our hearts at 103.5 KISS FM! This year's race is scheduled for Saturday, September 23rd and we're hoping to defend out title as the largest team on the course.  Watch this space for details about how you can sign up for any distance for just $20!

Two other Treasure Valley races also made the list! One is the Famous Idaho Potato Half Marathon that drops participants down from Lucky Peak along the Boise Greenbelt. You can still sign up for the May 20th race HERE.

The second is one of my personal favorites! The Fit For Life Half Marathon on Saturday, July 8th. This race starts and ends from Hawks Stadium in Garden City and gives you one of the most unique finish photos ever...you running across home plate! Sign up for that race HERE. And if you're looking for some extra help training for this particular half marathon, check out the Half Crazy training program through our friends at Fleet Feet Meridian! It's coached by one of my best friends, Meridian based Boston Marathon qualifier Kimberly Simmons and Fleet Feet's, Ryan Mulcahy who's coached Cross Country at Baylor and worked with several Olympic athletes.  The program also has two mentors to help participants along the way...one of which is Yours Truly!

I was along for the ride with the first Half Crazy training group and seeing many of our participants cross their first Half Marathon finish line was one of the most rewarding experiences in my life!
