Let's face it Boise has a ton of bars, breweries and spots where one can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. The truth is that not all watering holes are created equal. In early October the people at Western Collective decided to run with a "Pop-Up" concept in downtown Boise called The Nighthawk. This was their initial post on Instagram:

I had to experience this so I found a way to get in on opening weekend. The mystery involved in trying to find a place that had no sign and was clearly a temporary situation made me feel as if I was back in the prohibition days. I remember wondering if the woman dressed all in black sitting on a random chair in what looked like an abandoned section of a basement was the key to opening the door to this speakeasy ( turns out I was right). Once inside the stone walls, the leather couches and the raw feel of the place made it an experience to remember. Friday and Saturday nights they will be open 5pm-midnight. If you haven't yet, I encourage you to give it a shot. The Nighthawk is located beneath Bodovino, you can enter through the 8th avenue doors and come downs the stairs.
