It's the largest criminal case to take place in America in a very, very long time.

Four students from the University of Idaho murdered in the quiet of night--in the early hours of a Sunday morning.

A small and safe town, Moscow Idaho quickly became the center of a global obsession: who did this and why?

All of these months (and years) later, Bryan Kohberger, the man who was arrested as the sole suspect in the case, has accepted a plea deal and admitted to killing all four young adults.

The hearing that brought forth the plea deal came as a surprise--and Kohberger's lack of emotion, as captured by a pool photographer, was chilling:

Now, sentencing looms.

President Donald Trump has released a statement on the sentencing--it's the first time he's spoken out about the case.

Below is the statement released by Donald Trump regarding Bryan Kohberger and the Idaho quadruple homicide case:

Bryan Kohberger, who was responsible, in Idaho, for the deaths of four wonderful young souls, has made a plea bargain deal in order to avoid the Death Penalty. These were vicious murders, with so many questions left unanswered. While Life Imprisonment is tough, it's certainly better than receiving the Death Penalty but, before Sentencing, I hope the Judge makes Kohberger, at a minimum, explain why he did these horrible murders. There are no explanations, there is no NOTHING. People were shocked that he was able to plea bargain, but the Judge should make him explain what happened. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Do you agree with the President?

The hearing, which will eventually lead to the sentencing of Bryan Kohberger, is expected to go for a full day.  Family members of all four victims will be invited to come forward and speak on the impact that these crimes have had on their families and on their own personal lives---it's going to be deeply emotional.

Judge Hippler has also ordered the court to make plans to accommodate an entire second day for hearing continuation, if time requires.

Expect the entire world to be watching, as the hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. , Boise time, on Wednesday, July 23rd.
