The U.S. Senate has approved the first ever bill requiring women to register for a military draft.

It's called the National Defense Authorization Act and it requires women who turn 18 on or after January 1, 2018, to register for Selective Service as men currently do.  The draft has not been used since the Vietnam War in 1973.

The Senate voting was a dominant 85 to 13 for the National Defense Authorization Act.  This bill is an effort to strengthen our military posture to fight terrorism.
