20th Century Lanes Says Farewell With FREE Bowling
20th Century Lanes has been an icon in the Treasure Valley since 1937, but they'll close the doors to their State Street location for good this Friday.
One of the Treasure Valley's most well know bowling alleys shared the news on Facebook last month after a new skating rink announced they were opening at the same address. According to a post in the Boise & The Treasure Valley History group on Facebook, the new owners of the shopping center that houses the bowling alley wanted to raise the rent $18,000 a month. 20th Century Lanes, which has been at the same location since the 1960s (their original location was in the building where Old Chicago is now in Downtown Boise) refused to pay that much.
Customers of the bowling alley were devastated by the news and the owners want to show their gratitude for the community's support over the past 57 years. That's why the last day will be full of freebies!
Stop by 20th Century Lanes for FREE bowling from noon - midnight on Friday, June 30th. They'll also be giving out free coffee cups, water bottles, frisbees and other 20th Century Lanes branded goodies.
The new tenant, Treasure Valley Skate, isn't planning on changing much inside the building when they take over. The one most notable change? They'll stop serving alcohol and transform the lounge into a party room for birthdays. The skating rink officially take occupancy of the building on November 1st.
