A terrifying and sad story hit the Treasure Valley this afternoon as one man is dead in a crash that happened early this morning in Meridian.

It happened at nearly 2 o'Clock in the morning--23-year-old Courtni Verity was driving  on Ten Mile at a high speed when she rear ended another vehicle ahead of her.  The vehicle she hit was being driven by a 32-year-old victim that has not yet been named by authorities.

The man was ejected from the vehicle and according to Police, he died at the scene.

Verity was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail with vehicular manslaughter charges--a felony. Police at this time have said that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

This news is terrifying and uncalled for--it serves as a reminder that even when WE drive safe, not everyone around us is. While this story has not developed fully just yet, I hope this serves as a reminder that driving even after one drink just isn't worth it. Call an Uber, hail a Lyft, find a cab.  We're extending our sympathies to all involved.
