Boise's Dirty Dash has struggled to keep it's momentum after moving locations from Bogus Basin to Avimore in 2015.  This year, the organizers have decided to postpone the race for the safety of the athletes.

With last week's 100 degree temps, Ada County reached out to Dirty Dash organizers and insisted that they post the mud run/obstacle course race until October 8th because they were seeing potential fire conditions mirroring ones more often seen in July than mid-June. According to KPIC, the risk for a fire at the June 18th race was sitting around 90%.  Organizers say that they cannot get the proper permit to hold the race without the approval of a fire marshall.

No refunds are being issued to competitors because the postponement was out of the organizers hands.  The decision has not been popular in Boise's running community as the new date places the race on the same date as the popular "Race for Steaks" put on by the Idaho Beef Council and the day before the annual "City of Trees Marathon and Half Marathon."
