We've gotten the pleasure of knowing Boise's gold medal cyclist, Kristin Armstrong, through her involvement with FitOne.  Will she ride again in Rio or stay in the US because of the Zika risk?

According to KTVB, Armstrong will find out if she's earned a place on the US Olympic cycling team in two weeks.  She also tells them that if she does make the team, she will make the trip to Rio despite the risk of the Zika virus being carried by mosquitoes.

Health organizations around the world are reporting different degrees of the Zika risk, but Brazil itself claims cases have dropped from 4,000 to less than 100 in just two months.  Armstrong is taking into consideration the US Olympic Committee and CDC's advice.  They are simply leaving the decision up to the athletes.  If their recommendation changes closer to the games, Armstrong may reconsider her trip but says Rio's got bigger problems than Zika.  Olympic facilities are still not complete for some events, there's political unrest in the country and the water might not be sanitary for athletes to compete in.

The Rio Summer games begin August 5th.
