Amidst the several school closure announcements that came in Sunday afternoon well into the evening concerning the Coronavirus in the Treasure Valley, many families were forced to figure out how to deal with these changes. Less than 24 hour notice was given to thousands of families that their children would not be going to school the next day. For many working families, this means that child care needs to be arranged and for some parents this may mean a need to take time off from work to handle that, if they're lucky enough to have that ability.

Following the announcement from the Boise School District which made clear there would be no school this week, officials are now making sure that families know that there ARE options.

The Boise School District will be operating FOUR emergency day camps on Monday, March 16th from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The locations are:

  • Taft Elementary School
  • Morley Elementary School
  • Whitney Elementary School
  • Garfield Elementary School

There are also SIX food pantries open from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

  • Frank Church High School
  • Garfield Elementary School
  • Morley Elementary School
  • Taft Elementary School
  • Whittier Elementary School
  • Whitney Elementary School

We will continue to update you as/if other school districts make similar options available to families.
