Food Drive Launched for Boise Airport TSA Workers
Traveling out the Boise Airport is usually a total breeze. Whether you're flying out early in the morning or the middle of the day--and even during most holiday seasons--getting through security is a BREEZE. Despite Boise's boom, the efficiency at the airport is top notch.
These days, delays are expected once again because of politics.
The current 'partial' government shut down means that those working for the TSA have now officially missed a full paycheck. It seems surreal that this is possible, but here we are.
The Boise Airport released the following message on social media at the announcement of the food drive efforts:
TSA officers across the country are currently working without pay, but they continue showing up every day to keep travelers safe. If you're heading out for spring break, consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate. We've placed donation boxes near all airport entrances to help support our local TSA officers. Thanks for helping take care of the people who take care of our travelers
We think it's pretty great that the airport found a creative way to step up for our local TSA agents -- and that the community has a chance to (easily) help out!
With Spring Break coming up for many families, an uptick in travel was already anticipated. Typically, when government shutdowns reach this point, airports begin to experience TSA workers 'calling out' since they aren't being paid.
With this potential during a busier travel season, travelers are asked to arrive to the airport early and to bring a little extra patience.
