Boise’s Blue Turf A Finalist For Nation’s Top Sports Attraction
Boise has grown a lot over the years--especially in most recent years. We have seen our city be one of the nation's fastest growing places--but what's the story behind that?
Obviously, there is plenty to love about Boise. Some of the best outdoor activities on the globe are just minutes from town, crime rates are low, downtown is clean, people are (usually) very kind, and we get to experience all four seasons of the year! It's a great place to raise a family and schools do well.
What about that big blue football field, though? Is this nationally recognized sports attraction to blame for putting Boise on the map? Many say it has contributed. Now, it's up for 'Top10' status with the USA Today!
Currently leading in votes among the 20 finalists? Boise State.
Here's a look at some of the iconic sports attractions that Boise State leads!
National Sports Attractions Chase Boise's Blue Turf for Votes
These are some really amazing places!
Here is what USA Today had to say about our world-famous football field:
Since 1986, Lyle Smith Field has boasted turf that's not green but vibrant blue. Known by fans as "The Blue," and competitors as "Smurf turf," the field has become an iconic background for home games of the Boise State Broncos football team. What was once thought of as a gimmick seems to be paying off with "The Blue" contributing to tourism as one of the most visited sites in Idaho.
Could we bring it home!?
