Boise’s First Ever Wendy’s Shuts Doors Forever
For 40 years the Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurant on 1450 S. Orchard has served the Treasure Valley and as of Sunday, August 26, 2018, it is closed forever.
You can still see cars driving up trying to figure out what's happened, eventually reading the printed out note on the door that sadly states that the first Wendy's in Boise, Idaho and the second Wendy's in the entire state of Idaho has shut its doors for good.
BoiseDev.com reports that Jim Taggart, President of Mountain West Wendy’s had this to say...
We just built a brand new store on Overland. We really replaced it. It was tired and so we felt it was in our best interest to build a brand new store
Both stores were open for a while so Wendy's could gauge which store generated more traffic and business. When all was said and done, the Overland store was bringing in more revenue and so the decision to close the older restaurant was made.
Other new Wendy's restaurants popping up are the Garrity Blvd. in Nampa location. Broadway's Wendy's is getting a remodel and the Eagle Road and State Street Wendy's will also get a remodel later this year.
No information as to what will replace the Wendy's on Orchard Street at this time.
