Christmas Vacation – The Fight Within a Fight

Maybe I should have stayed in Boise over Christmas break. You aren't going to believe this story.

On Christmas eve, I was home with my family in Detroit. We went to my Aunt and Uncle's house as we always do, and it was shaping up to be a great holiday. Playing cards, drinking drinks, being merry, we did it all.

Then the boxing gloves came out.

Someone gifted a cousin of mine some boxing gloves, so my brother and I thought it would be funny to have a faux boxing match in the foyer. We agreed (because we're both not fighters) no hits in the face, and the match was on. Another cousin of mine was recording on his phone the innocent fun that was going down.

It didn't last long.

About :90 seconds into our would-be boxing match, an uncle (not blood-related) comes running past us yelling "I'LL PUT YOU IN THE ******* GROUND!!!" at yet another cousin of mine. He started swinging at "another cousin," so my brother and I ceased our crappy boxing match.

Apparently the story goes, a 10-year-old cousin from the other side punched my 21-year-old cousin in his crotch. 21-year-old cousin retaliated, and 10-year-old cousin's dad didn't like this. So he went after 21-year-old cousin fists swinging.

Luckily, nobody got hurt, and everything turned out fine. Santa showed up, the kids were all full of glee, and Christmas day went off without a hitch.
