Coalition Pushing To Raise The Smoking Age To 21+ In Idaho

Are you 18-20 years old and looking to purchase cigarettes in our lovely state of Idaho?

Some folks are pushing to make that illegal.

Members of the Tobacco 21 Coalition are hoping that a 21+ smoking law in California will help push a similar law here in Idaho.

Corey Surber from Trinity Health says:

To get tobacco policy through the state Legislature may not be something we can tackle right away, but we may be approaching local cities to see about ordinances

Health issues stemming from smoking costs more than $500,000,000 per year in Idaho. Those backing the potential law change are hoping that raising the smoking age will drastically lower the health costs affection Idahoans.

No word yet on when the law will go in to affect if it does in fact come to fruition.
