If you've ever thought about going into the Firefighting line of work, the College of Western Idaho has some great news for you! After a few years of developing and planning, the College of Western Idaho will soon be announcing its first class of fire fighter trainees!

When I lived in Spokane, Washington, one of my co-workers that had an interest in this line of work had to move away from his family to obtain the proper training to even be eligible to begin looking for work at local fire stations. Now, this program is offered here in the Treasure Valley at the College of Western Idaho!

Prior to this program coming into existence, someone in the Treasure Valley that wanted to seek this training would need to move away to either Salem, Oregon or Salt Lake City, Utah.

The certification that is obtained at the end of training is in Fire Service Technology--this makes a certified individual up to the standards that local fire stations look for in hiring on new men and women. Training includes in and out of classroom training along with a very specific physical fitness program.

If any of this sounds interesting or perhaps you know someone that would be interested, you can find more about the program, HERE. Currently, only 20 seats are available.
