Boise Flashback: Remembering Dolly Parton’s 1989 Visit to Idaho

Heartbreaking news broke just this afternoon, Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.

Dolly Parton, the famed singer, songwriter, and all around legend had passed away.

Parton was 80-years-old and meant a ton to more than just the music world. She was a once-in-a-lifetime talent that was beloved for her activism, her presence on-screen, and certainly her music, as well.

While Parton was known for her life in Tennessee, those that have been in Idaho for a few decades will remember well, her visit to Boise State's campus.

Dolly Parton spent some time in Idaho back in 1989 when she sang at ExtraMile Arena!

Of course, many major entertainment celebrities reacted to the sudden news, as well--such as Jimmy Fallon who also has spent time in Idaho     

We are all absolutely heartbroken that a legend like Dolly Parton has left us so soon.
