Drake Performs “Passionfruit,” “Over” and More at Snapchat’s New Year’s Eve Party
Your favorite rapper made Snapchat a huge part of their New Year's Eve, too—just to an unimaginably epic extent. This past Sunday (Dec. 31), Drake took the stage at Snapchat's special New Year's Eve party and performed some cuts from his 2017 project, More Life.
Among the tracks he performed were his portion of DJ Khaled's 2011 track "I'm on One," "Passionfruit," and his sultry, Jennifer Lopez-interpolating ballad "Teenage Fever." Both of the latter tracks belong to More Life.
Taking the stage at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater, Drizzy sang his heart out as he was projected onto a big screen so everyone in the room could see him. In one clip he prepares to perform "I'm on One." In another, he's plays a snippet of "Over," the first official single from his debut album, Thank Me Later. Definitely a trip down memory lane.
According to TMZ, the private Snapchat party, which was orchestrated by Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, was an ultra-swanky one, costing the company a whopping $4 million. Considering Drizzy took the stage at the event, that can't be too surprising, right?
The Daily Beast's Taylor Lorenz reports that Snapchat's party, quite ironically, didn't permit anyone to use the brand's app to document the event. "Snapchat blocked all snaps coming from Microsoft theater and surrounding venues where their giant NYE party was held last night and employees were explicitly told that they were not allowed to post anything from the party—even on Snapchat."
Based on the fact there are these videos, though, at least a few people found their way around those rules.
