Get the iOS 10 Update Before the General Public
My world looked completely different yesterday afternoon when I signed up to beta test the iOS 10 update on my iPhone. Uhhh muhhhhh gahhhhd... it's the coolest. You can get in on this, too.
To get this whole thing into motion, you need to sign up for the beta version of iOS 10. It's simple and it installs an app called "Feedback!" I bet you can't guess what you do with the app.
Yep, you give feedback. Being part of the beta testing means finding the glitches and seeing what works and what doesn't. This is why the iOS 10 update hasn't been released to the public.
Go to beta.apple.com and register your phone (and computer if you'd like) and wait for the update to hit whatever you've registered. For me, it was just my phone. I saw it in Settings > General > Updates.
Once the setup is complete (it's like any other update), you can start playing around. The kind of features that come with the new update are so fun!
You can send "text" messages where it's literally you writing. Once it sends, you can see it re-writing in your text screen as if it's in real time. That's what the person on the other side sees, too. Well, if they have the most updated version.
You can take a photo or record a video and draw all over it before sending. By the way, the drawings show up as if you're drawing them in real time. It's just like the text thing above.
When you write a regular text, you can hold your finger down and options appear. These options are amazing. Your screen comes to life. I'll walk you through each one and then choose one to show you what it looks like.
This is what I chose...
I sent a freaking party via text!
Also, your texting can turn into emojis in a hot second. Just keep your finger on the word you want to turn to an emoji and watch the matching emoji pop up. Here, obviously, I'm focused on pizza. Up pops the pizza emoji.
Speaking of emojis...they are bigger now.
I'm completely sold on this update. You let me know what you think about it!
