Idaho Gas Prices Are Skyrocketing More Than US
This is not cool. When I was 16 gas prices were just over one dollar. Do you remember what it was when you were first driving? Now I am not expecting them to ever get THAT low again, inflation has to do what it has to do. However a spike like what we are seeing here in Idaho is disappointing. In fact a new study shows that Idaho is leading the country in the biggest monthly gas price increase! Like I said, not cool.
Usually when Idaho is topping a national chart it is for something positive but not this time. AAA Idaho did a study and on average in the gem state we had a 20-cent jump, in one month. That is a substantial leap for a 30 day period. If you want to look at the big picture though, it is still about 8-cents cheaper than at this time last year. That was also before a pandemic. Currently the average cost for regular gas in the gem state sits at $2.45 a gallon.

When you break the state up the Treasure Valley and Boise in particular has seen the biggest rise. Since December 2020 Boise residents are seeing on average a 34 cent increase in town. Boise's gas price average right now is at $2.55, just above the state average. Lewiston is next at $2.44, followed by Twin Falls at $2.36. Fourth and fifth place are tied with gas prices currently at $2.35 in Coeur d'Alene and Pocatello. Idaho Falls is $2.34 and Franklin averaging $2.33.
