Before winter training begins, the Idaho Suicide Hotline is reaching out for new volunteers to help their cause.

In order to be a volunteer, one must undergo 50 hours of training including shadowing a current volunteer.

John Reusser, the hotline's director, says a person does not need to be suicidal to call the hotline:

Anybody who is in a crisis or just needs some emotional support is welcome to call us. We really want to talk to people before they get to that point, before they are actively suicidal if possible.

You can get more information about volunteering here.

If you or someone you know is feeling suicidal, please call or text the Idaho Suicide Hotline at 208-398-4357.
