Every December, we try to do the right thing and open our hearts to others. Helping someone in need, reaching out to an old friend, or simply being there when someone needs you most.

Yes, we open our hearts. But man oh man, we're opening our wallets a lot wider.

The amount of money the average Idahoan is spending during the holidays is astronomical.

Now, if it were simply Christmas presents, this statistic would probably be a lot lower. However, this includes all holiday spending, so be prepared to see some enormous numbers.

According to experts, Maryland spends more around the holidays than any other state, with the average citizen spending around $2,714 annually. That isn't a typo.

Idaho comes in a much more reasonable 23rd place, spending on average $1,200 on the holidays every single year.

What's your budget for the holidays in 2024? Are you spending more than you did the past few years, or are you tightening up your wallet because of "unprecedented times?"
