Living in Idaho definitely has its perks. We have the scenery, the food, the kind folks. Being an Idahoan is pretty nice overall!

If you're here for the money, however, you may not even know that you're having a really bad time, especially when compared to California.

What's the deal?

Every year, numbers and statistics are tabulated to give us a general breakdown of the average household income per state here in the U.S., ranked form #1 to #50 (Washington D.C. comes in at #1 technically, but). With the most recent numbers, you're about to see a vast difference when you compare Idaho and California.

What's California's average household income?

It's not a secret that just to live in California, you have to be bringing home a decent amount of cash. That being said, California comes in at 5th place in the country, with an average income of $95,521. You're about to understand just how high that number is.

What's Idaho's average household income?

It's lower. Like, a lot lower.

The most recent statistics place Idaho firmly in the middle, 24th place to be exact. On average, Idahoans are bringing home $74, 942 per year. Like we said, that's significantly lower than California.

Here's the good news: If you're making over $75,000 per year in Idaho, you're in the upper half! I mean, it's not $95,521, but it's something.
