I really believe that taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health in difficult times like this. Officials say calls to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline call center went up 300 percent around March. Meanwhile, Google searches for “panic attack symptoms” have gone up 100 percent compared to last year.

I'm really happy to hear that the The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has launched it's own mental health hotline in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The hotline will allow you to talk with trained counselors that can help you manage your emotions, and stress levels. They can provide on the spot tips and are willing to help you through any uncertainties and negative feelings you may have because of the pandemic. “This was an identified need that Idahoans are suffering and they are being impacted by COVID-19,” IDHW spokeswoman Niki Forbing-Orr told EastIdahoNews.com.

Callers will remain anonymous when calling the hotline. The counselors are also not to classify, label, or diagnose. The hotline is simply available as a resource.

The hotline is available seven days a week from 8:00 am-8:00 pm. and the number is 986-867-1073. You can also text that number  too in case you don’t feel like talking over the phone.
