We here at the Idaho’s Largest Garage Sale are very passionate about our animals. We care not only for our own animals, but all animals – including those that reside in our beautiful state of Idaho.

Animals, including cats and dogs mean the world to us – and that’s why we were thrilled to raise money this year for SNIP here in the Treasure Valley.

Spay Neuter Idaho Pets – or SNIP for short, is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and dogs in Idaho through low cost spay and neuter services.

SNIP’s goal is to have an Idaho where all dogs and cats are living in healthy environments with no unnecessary deaths or suffering.

While this sounds fantastic – unfortunately we here in Idaho have a long ways to go. According to the Idaho Humane Society, they average about 41 new animals a day that come into their shelter and there isn’t enough space for all of the animals. Not only are animals kept in less than desirable space, but due to there not being enough space and money to accommodate all of them – the IDS has to humanely euthanize those animals – primarily cats – that are not chosen by new families – even if they are healthy and loving.

This breaks our hearts – as there are thousands of healthy and loving animals that are euthanized every year here in Idaho due to our lack of efforts with promoting spaying and neutering – and helping getting strays off the streets.

Companies like Simply Cats are wonderful – in that for $50 you can take in a stray animal for them to be spayed or neutered, and kept in a loving room until they’re adopted. Petco Animal Adoption is also another wonderful location where they keep animals as long as necessary without any chance of euthanasia.

All of these wonderful places, including IDS, are wonderful – but it all starts with increased knowledge and practice of spaying and neutering.

Through all of your ticket sales at this year’s Idaho’s Largest Garage Sale, we’re pleased to announce that we were able to raise $1,200 for SNIP – to help cover the costs of spaying and neutering here in the Treasure Valley.

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported us in our 10th year, and for helping SNIP. We truly believe this is the first step in helping our feral animal population – as well as helping to improve the living experiences for cats and dogs already with us.
