When 2016 began I made a list of things I'd like to try to accomplish this year.  Like many resolutions people make, I SUCKED at meeting all my goals with the exception of one of the three items on the list.

In 2016, I wanted to be more present in the lives of my friends and family (I threw myself so far down the rabbit hole in the office for most of this year that I canceled far more date nights and nights out with my friends than I care to admit,) read more books (HA! with the exception of Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, I didn't read any in 2016) and run one race a month for 12 months.

Well, I managed to pull off the last one! It wasn't easy!  2016 started with me having a medical episode during a short run after work in early January.  It happened a week before my first target race for my goal of 12 in 12. I almost blew it during the first month!  Even with that and a knee injury in 2016, I finished my last race of the year at the Ho Ho Ho Hustle last week.  I went back through pictures from all the races and it was so cool to see how my running club, Team Run Boise, grew over twelve months.  We went from strangers passing each other on the course, to a small squad of about a dozen to a family of almost 50 who showed up on the coldest day of the year.  Blessed doesn't even begin to described how lucky I am to have these positive people in my life!

The year took me to courses in McCall, the Bruneau Dunes (that race almost killed me) and Ohio.  2016 also brought me new personal records in the 10K (which I'd been trying to break for 4 years) and the Half Marathon.  With new challenges and opportunities at 103.5 KISS FM, I know that it will be impossible for me to pull off a "12 in 12" in 2017, so I'll cherish these sweet memories of 2016! I wouldn't have traded a second of these experiences for anything!
