Is there anything more riveting than a drug bust? We're sure you could think of a few things but there's a reason why true crime is one of the most popular genres of content right now. People love reality and seeing the bad guy, the villain, get brought down.

It's why we went down a rabbit hole to find the largest drug bust in the history of one of the most notorious states in our country... California.

Is Los Angeles the drug trafficking hub of America?

At least, that's what the Drug Enforcement Agency said in their press release about an investigation we learned about in October of 2022. The investigation resulted in the largest drug bust in California's history at the time and the largest seizure of methamphetamine for Los Angeles's DEA division.

Seriously - there was so much meth seized that it would make Walter White of Breaking Bad proud... or jealous.

What's interesting about this drug bust is that the group responsible, the Sinaloa Cartel, was once led by the infamous drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. In case you're unfamiliar with who he is, he was one of the most elusive drug lords ever before being captured in 2014. But, as we said, the man was elusive and escaped prison not much longer in 2015 before being recaptured again in 2016.

It's important to note that if a criminal organization can break one of the world's most dangerous men out of prison... what can they do with the drug trade?

As it turns out - quite a bit.

That leads us to the largest drug bust in the history of California... and you won't believe how much methamphetamine was seized.
