UPDATE 10/6/26 12:30 PM: The Idaho State Police have clarified a portion of the news release for the fatal van accident near Lava Hot Springs. They have determined that 'the driver, a 24-year-old male from Montpelier, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The passenger, a 27-year-old male also from Montpelier, was not transported.'

ORIGINAL STORY 10/5/26 7PM: Two accidents reported by the Idaho State Police over the weekend, were single-vehicle accidents, meaning only the one vehicle was involved in the incident.

In one crash, a motorcycle left the road and ended up down a hill near an empty pond. The other accident involved a van that left the road and rolled.

Motorcycle Rider Killed in Western Idaho Accident

The fatal motorcycle accident happened on October 3rd in Valley County near Cascade. The motorcycle was heading south on State Highway 55 around mile marker 95 when the accident happened.

A 32-year-old male from Meridian, Idaho, was traveling southbound on a 2026 Honda CBR650 motorcycle when he lost control of the motorcycle and went off the roadway and down an embankment, coming to rest in an area of heavy brush near an empty pond.

The rider was wearing a helmet but passed away at the scene of the wreck. The accident did not impeded traffic and is being investigated by the ISP.

Van Driver Killed in Rollover Accident Near Lava Hot Springs

On Sunday, October 4th, the Idaho State reported a fatal crash near Lava Hot Springs in Southern Idaho. The vehicle had been driving on US30 near mile marker 375 just before 7 PM when the accident happened.

A 2006 Toyota Sienna, occupied by two males from Montpelier, was traveling westbound on US30. The vehicle left the roadway before overcorrecting and overturning the vehicle.

The men were not wearing seatbelts and one passed away at the scene of the crash. The other man did not receive injuries requiring hospital care.

This year, there were 13 fatal motorcycle accidents that claimed the lives of 15 people. Additionally, there was a fatal e-bike accident and 3 deadly ATV crashes, killing 4 more people.
