I have been in Boise for 8 years now and out of those 8years I have had a roommate for7 of them. Now you may be asking what is the point of this blog, well I have come to a realization.

If you are young and moving to a new place, Please, Please get a roommate. and if you are thinking about living in dorms at a college. DO IT. Having roommates is the best thing you could ever do for yourself. Living with one or more people opens you up to who you could be as a person. It lets you see what type of personalities you mesh with and how you can grow as a person. It lets you understand you responsibilities and learning to confront issues as an adult.

Now when you find the right person(s) it unbelievable what happens. Also just to clarify having a live in significant other is different than a roommate (different rules apply). Recently I had an old roommate move back in with me after not having a roommate for a year. And with most changes it was weird at first. My privacy is semi gone, I switched rooms which felt strange, The house life had changed with more dishes and knowing how to communicate when duties need to be done. Before all I had was myself and was only accountable to myself.

But something happened earlier this week, that made my heart happy and realized living with really good friends is a blessing. I was asleep and had missed my alarm clock by like 15 minutes. I was wrapped up like a butterfly in a cocoon, but my roommate barged into my room, dancing and obnoxiously loud and he kept repeating "Its going to be a good day, Its going to be a good day etc.." until I woke up and got out of bed.

This is why having a roommate is awesome. The camaraderie , the support, the energy, the fun, the motivation, and the feeling of you never know whats coming next. So I plead to you find someone you are comfortable with and enjoy the ride of having an awesome roommate. its all uphill.
