Local Store Offers FREE Women’s Self Defense Course

Ladies, do you ever wish you knew a little more about self defense?  A local running store is hosting a FREE Women's Self Defense Class next week!

Shu's Idaho Running company is hosting the clinic at their store at 1758 W State Street in Boise next Tuesday, August 9th at 7:15 p.m. Mike Shuman, the store owner, tells me that after one of his female friends ran into an issue he decided to team up with Tuckie Shaver from the Boise Police Department to host the free self defense class.

Tuckie (who Mike says is a total rock star) will teach attendees tips and tools on how to empower and protect themselves by using prevention and basic self defense techniques.

I do a lot of running on the Greenbelt in the early morning where I do see some questionable people/activity and it dawned on me, that if someone tried to attack me during a run, I wouldn't know where to begin trying to defend myself.  It's easy to take personal safety for granted living in a great community like the Treasure Valley, but the truth is there's dangerous people and situations in every community.  You'll definitely find me at the clinic next week!
