It's an end of an era in the Treasure Valley. Shopko has filed paperwork to restructure under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

As part of the financial restructuring process, the retailer will close an additional 38 stores in addition to the stores who are already deep into liquidation sales. When the new list of closing stores went public, the Nampa location at 2100 Caldwell Boulevard was among the stores expected to close this spring.  It's expected close date is April 19.

The list also revealed the expected closing dates for the two Boise Shopko locations already under liquidation. The Fairview location is expected to close on March 17, while the Broadway location will close their doors a few weeks later on April 8.

Pharmacy service at the three Treasure Valley Shopkos has been suspended and transferred to nearby Fred Meyer locations.  Customers who used Shopko pharmacies to fill their prescriptions should receive a mailer as to exactly where their prescriptions have been transferred.

Meanwhile the Shopko Optical centers at the Fairview and Broadway locations will remain open for business until the stores' final day.  Shopko hopes to relocate those centers to new free standing locations and continue the relationship they've built with their patients. If patients wish to leave the Shopko Optical center before its final day, they have the option of getting their prescription transferred to another optical retailer of their choice.

Losing Shopko is a huge blow to the Nampa community, who already has a vacant K-Mart store across the street. K-Mart announced they were closing their last Treasure Valley store in May 2018 and it closed for good over the summer.
