Once In A Blue Moon? Look At The Sky Tonight!

Have you told someone that something is happening "once in a blue moon" lately? Well the blue moon happens tonight!

According to KIVI-TV, the May full moon goes by a lot of names: Flower Moon, Corn Planting Moon, Milk Moon...but this year is different!

Now, is a blue moon really blue?  Under the right atmospheric conditions it is but the name "blue moon" is actually given to the fourth full moon in a season.  Normally there are three full moons between the first day of spring and first day of summer, but 2016 has four.

The last blue moon was July 31st, 2015.  The phenomena won't occur again until January of 2018.
