As of last night, Nampa has named a new Mayor.  Debbie Kling defeated incumbent candidate Bob Henry in my hometown last night and while reading about newly elected Mayor Kling and her campaign, I couldn't help but chuckle (in a good way).  Maybe you'll remember this too.

I'll never forget the day on the playground of St. Paul's Catholic School in Nampa. It was 2005, so I was in 5th grade at the time, and we all went outside to watch the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, fly over the school. A series of Presidential choppers flew over the school. It was crazy thinking the most powerful man in the world was flying over the school, headed to the Idaho Center for a speech.

Well, in that speech, he had one single suggestion for then Mayor Tom Dale about Nampa. I searched the internet all day today trying to find a video and couldn't find anything, but I did find an article about his ONE suggestion for Nampa.

Mayor Dale, he said, "FIX THOSE POTHOLES!"

Rumor has it, the infamous Nampa pot holes even rocked the presidential convoy!

You can read the article about that HERE.

So what does this have to do with President Bush's suggestion to Nampa? Newly elected Mayor Debbie Kling heavily campaigned on the need for repaired roads and sidewalks. A video on her campaign Facebook page highlights road conditions in Nampa that she says, she'll be facilitating repairs for.

Time will tell, but President Bush may be getting his wish after all.
