When the three Shopko locations in the Treasure Valley closed for good in the spring of 2019, we couldn't wait to see what would move into the large properties next.

People in Southeast Boise kept crossing their fingers, just hoping that the location on Broadway Avenue would become the neighborhood's own Target location. A Target sore is something that folks in that part of the Treasure Valley have been wishing for since the nearby Gordman's location closed in 2017. Sadly, that property was scooped up by Albertsons and is being used for...well, we don't exactly know what. It's not open to the public.

Southeast Boise will continue you to wait for a potential Target store, because something new has moved into the old Shopko location. It's not a Target...or a Spirit Halloween store. Over Labor Day weekend, signs for "The Outlet by Scandinavian Designs" went up. The outlet store is located about .1 miles from the upscale furniture store the brand opened inside the old Office Max.

It's the final of the three defunct Shopko locations in the Treasure Valley to get a new tenant. The old Shopko location on Caldwell Boulevard in Nampa was remodeled into a Planet Fitness. The gym welcomed its first members in October 2020. The former location on Milwaukee, not far from Boise Towne Square Mall, became a Hobby Lobby. The highly anticipated craft store finally opened in April of this year.

While all the Shopko stores in Idaho have closed, they do still have two optical only locations open in Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston.
