While it would be easy to assume that most folks just want a faster speed limit, we were particularly interested to learn that many of you voiced to us that you wish Eagle Road was SLOWER.
There's a chance, given this 'pilot program' from the Idaho Transportation Department works out, that the speed limit on Eagle Road will decrease. Kind of.
It's called a 'variable speed limit' and the Idaho Transportation Department is going to launch a pilot project that would have the speed limit fluctuating on Eagle Road depending on the time of day. During peak hours, the speed limit would drop from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour.
A spokesperson for ITD said it may be the first of its kind in the nation.
The road has been the scene of many intense car crashes over the years--some, fatal. Officials hope that increased safety signs and measures will protect drivers, as roads are only getting busier.
