Most resolutions going into a new year usually sound something like this:

  • I want to lose weight and get back in shape next year
  • Next year, I want to travel more
  • I'll give to charity next year for the first time

Those are all lovely, and aspirational for sure. Are they exciting? No. Have we seen them 1,000 times? No. Are you going to stick to any of those? Probably not.

Luckily, we've found the only new year's resolution for 2023 that everyone in Boise can agree on:

Let's be nice to our neighbors, even if they're new neighbors

I cannot tell you how many comments we receive daily about "Commiefornia" or "Go back home" or "Day terk err jerbs!" or something like that. Some people in the Treasure Valley really do not like folks from other states moving here.

Does a population influx mean more traffic? Sure. Perhaps longer lines for coffee? Maybe. But is that so bad?

New people in town means more money for the local economy, more customers for your business, and most importantly, more culture! We all love that Boise is a diverse place, and seeing more of that can only add to the appeal of the City of Trees.

Still reading? Still mad? Well you already failed your new year's resolution. Way to go. ;)
