There’s an Active Volcano in Idaho
Don't panic, the volcano is sleeping.
If we're being specific, it's actually volcanoes, because there's a handful of them. Where can you find Idaho's napping lava machines? That would be Craters of the Moon.
Four hours east of Boise, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is home to over two dozen cinder cones. Luckily, the last time any of the volcanoes erupted was before recorded history, but they will erupt again someday. How soon? Geologists estimate the area will become explosively active within the next 1,000 years.
Don't let that deter you. Explorers visit Craters of the Moon regularly, and capture some amazing photos and video.
What's even cooler is while you're there, you can check out some lava tubes, which are caves created during volcanic eruptions. Perfect romantic getaway, right?
