Do I tell you this so you get drunk faster? Nope. I tell you this as a word of caution from a seasoned, 5 time Old Chicago World Beer Tour finisher...

...who's made a few beer drinking mistakes along the way.  If you're not familiar with the Old Chicago World Beer Tour, it's purpose is to try to break you out of the habit of ordering a Bud Light Lime or PBR every time you go out for a beer.  They want you to think globally and drink locally, so once you finish 110 beers you get your name on the Wall of Foam at your home store.  When I started the World Beer Tour six years ago, I was the girl who thought Bud Light Lime was fancy so I was excited to try some new beers and find out what I like and what I don't.  Although with that huge list of taps, bottles and cans in front of me, I made some huge mistakes along the way.  I'd often pick a beer because it had a cool name or flashy label, barely noticing it's % of alcohol by volume (ABV.) I've accidentally ordered two back to back high ABV beers and totally blacked out.

That said, most of those high ABV beers were really, really good so by all means, enjoy some at Alefort this weekend, but just make sure to break them up with lighter beers, water or bring a Gatorade with you!

Alefort is open Friday 3-8 p.m, Saturday 12-8 p.m. and Sunday 12-8 p.m. at 12th and Grove. Beer tokens are $3 a piece.
