This Finger-Amputating Cooler Is Being Recalled In Idaho
There's nothing quite like it. You're parched, and you know your go-to beverage of choice is just inches away, nestled in a bed of chilly ice. Maybe it's a beer. A seltzer. A bottle of your favorite water brand. Whatever it is, nothing beats that first sip of refreshment.
Until you realize your finger has been cut off and is now bleeding all over everything inside of the cooler.
Sure, that sounds like a funny punchline for an SNL skit, but it's happened to numerous consumers.
Over 1,000,000 of the coolers in question are being recalled. Some of them were sold in Idaho.
Yes, this is really happening to people. The Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers use a tow handle which has resulted in at least a dozen injuries, some of which are actually fingertip amputations.
According to the people at Igloo, they're all over the current safety issue:
Through rigorous testing and proactive steps, we are constantly improving our products to meet the highest safety standards.
Just the opinion of this writer, but wouldn't chopping a customer's finger off qualify as "low-to-medium safety standards?"

Unfortunately, it's not just coolers being hit with a massive recall in 2025.
Recently, Kia had to issue an enormous recall of over 400,000 vehicles. If you own a Telluride, heads up!

Did you know there have even been medicine recalls in the recent past? It's not just appliances and motor vehicles getting recalled for safety reasons in the 2020s.
Even medicine has been recalled. No one is safe.
