Treasure Valley Nurse Qualifies For Olympic Trial Finals

I was watching one of the girls I competed against in high school run in the 3000m Steeplechase yesterday when I noticed a Treasure Valley connection in the field!

Megan Rolland, who runs for Oiselle, took 2nd place in Heat 3 of the first round of the steeplechase on Monday evening.  Rolland is from Emmett and was working as a nurse in Boise before quitting to pursue her Olympic dreams.

She didn't know that she secured a place at the Olympic trials until breaking her personal best time at a meet in Portland three weeks ago.  Than run helped her meet the qualifying standard for the trials.

She moves on to the finals and a shot at Rio on Thursday evening at 8:48 PM.  The top 3 women in the event will represent Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Rio next month! I'll be cheering on Megan and my friend, Bridget Franek to take two of those spots!
