When Should Idaho Expect To See 2024 General Election Results?
It happens every four years.
You get excited to vote for the candidate of your choice. You make plans to get to the polls to make sure your vote is counted. And then...nothing. Radio silence.
You wait for what seems like an eternity to find out how the nation voted, and it's the absolute worst feeling in the world. So how's it going to be for Idaho on November 5th, 2024?
Idaho polls close at 9 p.m. Mountain time tomorrow. However, that doesn't mean you'll know who's going to be the next president of the United States at 9:01 p.m. Phil McGrane, Idaho Secretary of State, explains:
I have confidence that it’s going be a long election night. Some counties will finish quickly, others will take longer.
The issue at hand is, there 50 states worth of votes to count, and numerous methods of voting at different times and dates. As we've learned with past presidential elections, it can take literal days to find out who the victor will be.
One thing to keep in mind is, any results you see after the polls close tomorrow are unofficial results. Nothing is official in Idaho until the State Board of Canvassers certify it.
Meaning, it could be a long night. Or nights. Or week. Oh god.
