We're not being sarcastic when we say we're almost 100% certain you've committed this crime at least once.

Not here to shame or point fingers, but you should know that if you get caught, it could land you in jail in Boise for up to 30 days. Read on.

What's an "everyday crime?"

Literally what it sounds like. A minor offense that may not seem like much, but when it's committed daily, it can add up to a big pile of trouble. Both for the city, and for whomever is caught committing said crime.

What's the penalty?

The first time you're caught, it's a fine of $150. Not the end of the world, but still not fun at all.

On your second offense within two years, you'll be stomaching a fine of up to $300.

Oh boy, the third offense. If you're somehow caught a third time in three years committing this same act, you could receive a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 30 days in the county jail.

Ok, so what's the crime? Am I in trouble?

That depends. Have you been littering in Boise lately?

We're not joking. If you are, as highly unlikely as it may be, caught littering three different times within three years, straight to jail. Probably.

Jokes aside, Boise is an absolutely gorgeous place to live, and we'd like to keep it that way. Don't litter.

We know it isn't fun to think about how much of a negative impact we as humans can have on the environment. Again, not here to shame.

However, sometimes seeing the real effects can help us make better choices to keep Earth gorgeous.
