Is it just me or does it seem like crime in the Treasure Valley is going up? Sure, crime is prevalent everywhere in the world, but it seems like in our small corner, the frequency appears to be increasing rapidly. Some of it is minor, but some of the crimes being committed reminds me of my time living in Portland. In Portland, car thefts are as common as Justin Bieber caught playing in the Burger King ballpit (very common). In fact, once, my car got broken into twice in one day. Car break in's are so common, the Portland Police Department doesn't even respond when reported. I hope Boise doesn't head in that direction, so when I saw KTVB report that a couple of teens were arrested for allegedly breaking into cars, it got my attention.
Officers were called out to the area of Crestwood Drive and Glenwood Street at 4:44 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple car break-ins in the area. During a search of the area, officers located 18-year-old Adam Pearl and a 17-year-old boy. The teens matched the descriptions of the burglary suspects, police say.
I know we will always have crime in our community, but Boise always felt like a safer than most other cities. I hope the crime rate doesn't continue to grow like our city is.
