Football season isn't even here yet and Boise State fans already have a chance to storm the blue turf on the campus of Boise State University. By the way-- you don't even need to be a football fan to enjoy this!

For years, the blue turf at Boise State has been a signature feature of the City of Boise. When people come to town, it's often potatoes and the blue football field that first-timers will know best. For folks that have been in Boise for a lifetime, they just know that the field is blue and it's unlike anything else in the nation. Either way--getting access to the blue, traditionally, has not been the easiest.

In recent years, athletic and university administrators have been voicing their desire to allow the public more access to the blue turf--and all things Boise State. An opportunity to appreciate this gem that is in our backyard--from more than just a television screen at home--has become a priority.

This week, there's a chance to take the whole family out to the blue turf for something big and green: SHREK!

Dubbed 'Movie On The Blue', families can join Boise State Athletics to watch Shrek on Friday, June 30th and 7:00 p.m.

The event is free--and so is parking. Concessions won't be open, so you can even "sneak" your own snacks into this makeshift movie theatre--but water is the only beverage allowed in.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m.

We know that Boise loves Shrek--in fact, the Knitting Factory sold out one and recently announced a second 'Shrek' themed rave! Here's an inside look...

Boise ravers are bracing for this nostalgic event to come to the Knitting Factory at the end of March.
