When it comes to the community in Boise and the greater Treasure Valley--few are as dedicated to stepping up and being there for one another in times of hurt or need. Over at Boise State University, there is no exception. In fact, you could argue that the Boise State community really is synonymous with our city--we have some of the most passionate fans in the world flying the blue and orange.

Over the last few weeks fans of Boise State athletics have mourned and shared their condolences for the losses of two major pieces in Boise State history.  Of course, fans from all over the nation have shared their sympathies with those most directly tied to these former Boise State stars-- their friends, family, loved ones, spouses and children.

In early July, it became known that Greg Grimes was shot and killed in Sacramento early in the morning. Former stars like Demarcus Lawrence shared their condolences online:

Just weeks later, news was released that star Defensive Back from the 2007 Fiesta Bowl victory, Austin Smith, died while spending time with loved ones in Arizona.

These losses are terribly sad, too frequent, and very close to the hearts of Bronco fans, which is why Head Coach Andy Avalos has shared information on a great fundraiser to benefit the families impacted by these losses.

The event will take place at the Sidecar Bar on July 31st from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and details on the event are above.
